Mobility week in Campo Maior, Portugal

The mobility week in Campo Maior, Portugal took place between the 19th-25th January 2020. 13 teachers and 26 students from the 4 partner countries met in order to arise awareness of humanity concerning environmental issues.

It was also a glimpse into the beauty of nature and into solutions to preserve it. The activities embraced nature in its wilderness as well as human traces that sometimes can be dangerous without the proper knowledge and without the gentle and wise management of human resources.

All the activities were shaped around the importance of preserving nature starting from a very important aspect which was that of observation.

Pictures taken in nature, the study of the region's bird habitat followed by bird watching activities with the help of two experts, a biology teacher and a National Geographic photographer helped the students to understand that without nature humankind wouldn't exist.

From observing to practice, the students learnt how to camouflage shelters for bird watching, how to build bird shelters and how to cultivate and grow in a garden.

They even wrote a message in a letter to the world about the way we all should protect our environment as wisely and as consciously as possible.

Another aspect touched during the mobility was that of the use of the resources that nature provides us. The students learnt how honey, olive oil, plum products , and wine are produced and got familiar with the cork tree, a very expensive tree that is exploited to produce cork materials but in a safe way and with care in order to avoid damaging it.

Growing animals in a clean environment for meat production was another subject of debate and the students could visit a huge farmland to see everything with their own eyes.

Healthy food from healthy nature resources from a clean environment was one of the main aspects of the project meeting in Campo Maior where traditions still do exist in there food, music, art, and love for nature. Folding paper flowers and exhibiting them all over the city is a tradition and favourite pastime of the inhabitants of Campo Maior that expresses their love of nature and beauty.

Our students participating in paper flower workshops and learning how to fold them now are the messengers of a precious Portuguese tradition. Human traces go back far in the past and prove a strong symbiosis between mankind and nature.

The city of Elvas and the Fortress of Graca, part of the UNESCO cultural heritage that our students visited are the proof that the people from the very beginning used all means to protect and defense there rich and precious land. The Fortress of Malvao also gave us the possibility to admire the beautiful landscape of the region of Alenteje.

After a wonderful week spent in the region of Alenteje, the students of our school are richer in knowledge and more aware of nature preservation, familiar with healthy lifestyle with healthy food, they are wiser and happier.

Mobility Week in France for the Romanian students

The Romanian Erasmus+ team spent a wonderful week in their mobility in France, the 2nd mobility during the project, No more walls, just bridges. The partner school, Lycee Professionnel de Turgot, hosted us during the mobility in Montmorency , a quiet city located in the suburbs of Paris. The aim of this visit was the acquisition of competences concerning the use of technology in education.

Our team was deeply impressed by the way the activities were organized and the students became richer in knowledge as well as more experienced regarding the use of modern technology.

The web TV show in which the students presented all the activities of the first project year was a great success.

We had also the possibility to visit the city of Paris.

From the inside of the Louvre Museum

to the top of the Eiffel Tower,

from the visit to the Science Museum to the Arc de Triomphe

not even the rain stopped us to know more about the French culture, religion, history, art, and cuisine.The boat trip on the River Seine

and the long walk on the Champs Elysee will always remain in our students memories.The friendship tree in the schoolyard will always remember the French students that some European friends stopped at their gate for a chat together.

ERASMUS+ "No more walls.. just Bridges" in Satu Mare (Romania)

The second mobility of the Erasmus+ project "NO MORE WALLS JUST BRIDGES" took place in Romania from 10 to 16 March 2019 at the Sports High School of Satu Mare. The Italian students, together with the French, Belgians, Portuguese and Romanians, were engaged in a series of cultural, sports and musical activities and workshops in accordance with the program provided for in the project. The Romanian delegation made us discover the history and the characteristic buildings of the city of Satu Mare through the visit of the panoramic tower, of the palace where the city administration is located, of some churches of Catholic and Orthodox rite and a city treasure hunt.

We also had the opportunity to learn about the history and cultural traditions of Romania through some guided tours at the Memorial of the Victims of Communism in Sighetu Marmației, which has greatly impressed our students for the suffering that this period has inflicted on the Romanian people, the ancient monastery of Barsana, where a community of cloistered nuns still lives, the Village-museum of Negresti Oas, with its typical medieval buildings, the castle of Carei in Transylvania and the cheerful cemetery at Sapanta, so named for the bright colors and smiling figures that adorn its tombs. The Romanian partner has organized for both students and teachers a series of activities and sports competitions in athletics, football, fencing, kayaking, handball, table tennis and basketball, with teams mixed by gender and nationality. All delegations also participated in workshops and workshops in cooking, mechanics, sewing, crafts and electronics both at the school and at some cultural and professional centers in the city. A series of folkloric and musical initiatives have animated, with dances and ballets of their own tradition, the moments of socialization, involving in turn all the delegations and creating an atmosphere of synergy and cultural exchange that has allowed us to continue to work on the construction of those "bridges" that our Erasmus project aims to create and make more effective.

ERASMUS + No more walls just bridges - 1th meeting in Bari - November 19-23 2018

IISS "Majorana" hosted in Bari the first meeting of the project from 18th to 24th November 2018.
The partners from France, Belgium, Portugal, Romania arrived on Sunday18th November.
The works started on Monday 19 November at the main building of the school. During the welcome ceremony the partners introduced their schools and countries and played a kahoot game to vote the winner of the logo competition to choose the official logo of the project.
Later the students took part to art workshops about healthy/ junk food and habits: Prof. Mazzarino run a photo- editing workshop where the students created funny creatures mixing animals and vegetables; other students chose to work with prof. Poletto and drew and coloured posters on healthy/ bad food and habits. The students who worked with prof. Vitarella created posters with the collage technique inventing healthy and junk “foodscapes” inhabited by elves and ogres.
Contemporarily the teachers ‘meeting took place in the Palese building. Later the teachers visited the school guided by some Italian colleagues who showed them the facility.
At 13.30 all the participants took a guided tour to the Petruzzelli theatre, a symbol of both Italian musical excellence and architectural beauty. It is the fourth largest theatre in Italy, and the largest private one in Europe. It re-opened in 2009, eighteen years after the fire that destroyed it in 1991.
Then the students took part to an orienteering experience in the city centre organized by their Italian mates. In the meanwhile the Italian teachers guided their foreign colleagues in the labyrinthine alleys of Bari showing them the most famous monuments of the city and speaking about the historical and urban development of the city.

On Tuesday morning, 20th November, the participants visited the famous Castellana caves. They went on a 3 km guided tour to a unique speleological complex formed about 90 million years ago that is one of the most important attractions of Puglia and a natural heritage. It has an inestimable value for Italy.
In the afternoon they visited the UNESCO site of Alberobello and its famous “TRULLI”, limestone dwellings built with a prehistoric technique.
Upon their return at school, students and teachers had a dinner all together.

On Wednesday morning, 21st November, the participants visited a didactic oil mill in Bitonto. There they learnt how to produce organic olive oil. Puglia produces more olive oil than any other Italian region, the oil from the area of Bitonto is famous because it's closer in character to the taste of fresh olives, with a slight almond taste.
The morning ended with the rehearsal for the cooking show.
After the lunch at school, the students completed their art works while their teachers attended another meeting.
The day ended with a dancing dinner in the auditorium of the school where the Italian students and their parents organized a buffet. A DJ set organized by the Italian students lived up the party.

On Thursday 22nd November the group went to Matera, that is a UNESCO place and the European capital of culture 2019.
Matera is the most outstanding, intact example of a troglodyte settlement in the Mediterranean region, perfectly adapted to its terrain and ecosystem. Its settlements illustrate a number of significant stages in human history. People lived for centuries in the caves of which the city is rich, and transformed them in dwellings.
The trip started with a visit to CASA NOHA, which is an example of the residential architecture of the Sassi. It is made of tufa walls and vaulted ceilings were the video “The invisible Sassi is projected. It represents an extraordinary journey through the history of Matera” by Giovanni Carrada. The images tell the visitors the history of the city from its origins to the present day.
The trip continued with a visit to the Roman cathedral and a walk in the ancient alleys where is set an exhibition of surrealistic sculptures of Salvator Dalì, “The Persistence of Opposites”, a museum path showing the main conceptual dualisms of Dali's art. After the walk, the partecipants had a lunch in a typical restaurant located in an ancient oil mill.
In the evening the students went to an Escape Room where they solved puzzles and riddles using clues, hints, and strategy to complete their objectives. It was an enjoyable challenge and an opportunity to improve linguistic and cultural competences and abilities.

On Friday 23rd November there was a Cooking competition and each country prepared its typical dishes. Under the supervision of the cooking teachers, they prepared starters, main dishes and desserts. It was very interesting because the participants realized that some foods are common all over Europe: they prepared dishes matching mussels and potatoes with Apulian and Belgian recipes, several regional variations of stewed meat, an almost universal rice pudding and other tasty dishes. Few things connect us to a country better than local food and few things connect people better than food. Thus the winner, at the end, was…Europe!
The Italian students attending courses for waiters served at lunch the European delicatessen and there was a lot of fun. In the lobby of the restaurant, teachers and students viewed the exhibition of the art works produced in the workshops.
After a free afternoon and some shopping in the city centre, the participants met in a restaurant for a salutation dinner and tasted “panzerotti”, an Apulian domestic poor food whose origins are lost in the mists of time. Those pieces of dough, stuffed with different filling and fried in very hot olive oil, are among the most famous and tasty Apulian specialities and has become a popular street food for tourists and citizens.
On Saturday 6th April the guests departed accompanied by the Italian hosts.

Mobility Week in Satu Mare

Together with the students from the partner countries Liceul cu Program Sportiv Satu Mare promotes project based learning while shaping the activities on sports as the main topic and the most important aim of the meeting held in Satu Mare during the week of 11th-15th March 2019.
On Monday, after the guests' arrival, the whole group was picked up from the hotel and started their walk to our school where the students and teachers would start their activities.

The team-building activity focused on T-shirt painting got the students closer to one other and warmed up the atmosphere for the whole week.

The activity continued with the presentation of the interviews prepared by the students before the meeting, in a classroom where the photo collages on healthy lifestyle had been exhibited.

After a warm welcome at the Town Hall, the treasure hunt in the city center proved to be a real challenge for the students while the teachers were getting familiar with the ethnic, cultural and religious diversity of this region.

On Monday afternoon, the guests had the first glimpse of what performance in sports meant when they visited the Fencing Club of the City.

So they got ready for the first sporting activities on Tuesday morning.

After a spectacular sports demonstration, they had the chance to try sports (such as football, basketball, handball, table tennis, chess, fencing) together with the Romanian students and trainers. In the afternoon they were offered the possibility to spend time on water while trying also kayak-canoe in spite of the cold and windy weather.

Trips on research of cultural diversity and heritage enriched their stay in Romania. The Land of Oas, in the county of Satu Mare offered the guests a unique, authentic and interesting view of how people lived in this region in the past, the same point was given by the County History Museum, visited on Friday.

The County of Maramures provided more surprises with the Merry Cemetery in Sapanta with its uniqueness and the Monastery of Birsana, its oldest church being a UNESCO heritage too.

Traditions and history of our region were revealed later during the trip and the next day too when visiting the Castle of Carei. A very interesting workshop closed the meeting. On Friday morning all the students gathered in classrooms and holding hand in hand as a big family learned from their peers the traditional dances of each country, which finally would be presented at the good-bye party on Friday in the evening with an exhibition of traditional clothes.

Surprising sporting activities like break dance and bowling, as well as workshops on traditional Romanian crafts proved to be really successful when all the students got deeply involved whenever they tried something new.
The mobility week in Satu Mare gave all the students the opportunity to experience new things, to learn by doing and trying, to work in teams, to practice the English language and to socialize. To be continued in France..., we are coming...
